Ajeet Kumar is a distinguished long-distance runner and one of India’s
passionate sports advocates. Specializing in 5000m, 10,000m, and Cross Country, he represented
India at the 2001 World Cross Country Championships in Belgium and earned the
Asian Silver Medal the same year. Born on 22 September 1978 in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh,
his early journey reflects discipline, dedication, and a deep love for sports.
After a remarkable athletic career, Ajeet transitioned into social development with the same
passion he carried onto the track. His work spans across health, sports development, youth
empowerment, community welfare, and human resource upliftment. In 2019, driven by the vision
to support underprivileged children and aspiring athletes, he founded
Bande Bharat. What began as a personal mission funded from his own resources
quickly grew into a larger movement when like-minded social workers joined hands with him.
Under his leadership, Bande Bharat expanded its work across multiple developmental areas—
sports empowerment, education, gender development, nutrition support, and social inclusion.
His ability to mobilize communities and build sustainable development programs made Bande Bharat
one of the emerging grassroots-driven sports and social development platforms in India.
Ajeet has also contributed as a consultant in forming several developmental agencies across the state.
He is a founding partner of the Sparsh Sports Development Foundation and serves as a mentor
to the Lucky Foundation, guiding young leaders and organizations committed to social change.
